Sometimes it’s necessary to connect Ubuntu Server to a wireless network, which can be challenging without a GUI installed. Thankfully this can be done from the command line using netplan.

Create Configuration File

sudo touch /etc/netplan/wireless.yaml

Populate Settings

Enter the following into the configuration file.

network:
  version: 2
  wifis:
    wlan0:
      dhcp4: yes
      dhcp6: no
      access-points:
        "<NETWORK-SSID>":
          password: "<NETWORK-PASSWORD>"

Apply Configuration

sudo netplan try
